# O3R - Ocular Oncology Outcomes Research

O3R is an ocular oncology outcomes research lab affiliated with the University of Calgary and University of Alberta. The lab builds outcome measures, evidence infrastructure, registries, and clinical tools for real-world eye cancer care.

## PROM-UM

PROM-UM is a validated patient-reported outcome measure for adults treated with plaque brachytherapy for uveal melanoma. It measures post-treatment Symptom Impairment, Worry, and Discomfort. The PROM-UM page includes information about the instrument, evidence base, licensing, USD fee categories, registration, and citation requirements.

The 2017 qualitative study identified patient-important issues not fully captured by existing ophthalmic oncology quality-of-life tools, including mental health, family impact, travel and financial burden, and work and home life. The 2023 psychometric study evaluated PROM-UM in 439 patients from three North American ocular oncology centres and identified three domains: Symptom Impairment, Worry, and Discomfort.

PROM-UM licensing categories include academic/non-profit use, clinical use, and commercial or clinical trial use. Users should register before using, reproducing, distributing, translating, adapting, or electronically implementing PROM-UM.
